About
Elitarian Music Webzine is… err, basically, what the name suggests. We (the bunch of friends who handle this site) recently started this project in 2009, aiming to build up a decent webzine to focus on the more extreme layers of metal, especially the underground bands with true potential and something to say, which is something that has become kind of a rarity in the present times, hence the chosen name.
Of course, special bands deserve a special treatment, therefore, in order to do justice to said bands, we always tried to avoid sticking to the average interview pattern by providing as more as possible in-depth questions, elaborated after a careful documentation over each band, while when it comes to reviews, our main concern is simply to get the reader to have a clear picture of the album; this means that we always maintain a critical approach, whether the overall response is extremely positive or definitely negative (we definitely prefer to avoid cheap dissing or pointlessly talking shit about an album that scores low like we’ve seen many times, and basically, if we think that an album’s content is insufficient, we try to expose our motivations in a logical and coherent manner). (Since we’ve been running this site for a relatively short time now, we might be away from achieving our task, but with time we try to improve in order to get closer to our ideal of what an extreme metal webzine should be like. And since focusing on content really takes away all the time to worry about complicated and flashy layouts, you’re most likely not to see any pyrotechnical or impressive graphics over here.)
We’re more than happy to review any kind of release and we also accept digitally submitted press – kits. The snail mail address can be found within the contact page (please drop us a line before you ship your cd), along with personal mail addresses and all. But since money can become a relevant issue when a band is forced to ship loads of copies to a myriad of webzines in order to get attention, you might as well want to upload your release to a file hosting service and provide us with a link. In any case, send the actual release (be it a full – length, an Ep, a promo or a demo), DON’T submit randomly assembled tracks or online streaming stuff!! Review will be guaranteed, as long as your music fits into the extreme metal genre. And since this is a point that is often misunderstood, here’s an example: if your band plays Power-Gothic-Symphonic metal with lyrical female vocals or Metalcore, it definitely would not fit our target. The statement does not include all those bands that perform unorthodox and challenging forms of extreme metal with their own twist. On the contrary. We’re mostly interested in Black Metal – oriented bands, but any other side of extreme metal is welcome.
As for interviews, things get a little more complicated. We do not interview bands for the sake of doing it, and we prefer to focus on quality instead of quantity, privileging the bands that draw our attention and that could make for an interesting and noteworthy conversation due to a deep and heart-felt concept and imagery. This means that we do not accept interview requests, we’re rather to bother you personally and ask you for an interview ourselves if we’d like to ask you some questions. Nevertheless, if your band fits this category, feel free to ask and maybe we’d work something out (it might be desirable to point out that with this we do not mean those who passively stick to all those superficial and cheap clichés of this form of music).
Another few things that should be made clear is: don’t ask for your material to be posted here (we’ve been asked many times and I personally wonder why!), don’t ask for OUR material to be posted on YOUR site (idem!), don’t ask to trade links (our links sections features bands and labels we’ve deliberately chosen to support, and by the way we’re just a small underground magazine so what’s the point in asking, get a promotion agency and you’ll have all the exposure you think you deserve dammit!).
This should be all for the time being, but if you have any further question go on and ask. Any suggestion is welcome!
